Dena Ali is a captain with the Raleigh (NC) Fire Department and, prior to becoming a firefighter, she served five years as a police officer in North Carolina. Ali has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where her research focused on firefighter suicide. She obtained her undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University, and she teaches her class on suicide prevention at FDIC International. Ali is an avid cyclist and founding member of both the Carolina Brotherhood, and North Carolina Peer Support.
